COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER - ANIMAL HEALTH, CARE & ADVOCACY

75 CEUs
The Community Health Worker - Animal Health, Care & Advocacy™ (CHW - AHCA) is an advanced designation and requires 200 hours (75 hours of education/125 hours in supervised experience) of training.
This program is emerging because the CHW field itself is only now being standardized; it is cutting-edge because it applies a whole health, salutogenic framework at the community level; and it is first-of-its-kind to the extent that it trains people not just to care for animals, but to use safe, ethical, and informed human-animal engagement to improve human health outcomes.
The CHW-Animals™ curriculum will explore:
1. Fundamentals of the bio-psycho-social-spiritual care continuum
2. Basics of Salutogenesis: Public Health & Public Safety
3. Basic Principles of Animal Health
4. Animal Care: Land, Skies and Seas
5. Animal & Population Disease Management
6. Food Safety, Handling & Preparation
7. Exploring Animal Sentience
8. Evolution to Endangered Species: Wild, Pet, Tool, Food, Sport/Spectacle
9. Ethics, Advocacy & Justice: Micro to Macro
